Art students honored during annual juried exhibition at Marietta College
France Moise '20 wins Best in Show for 'Nueve Once'
Marietta, Ohio (04/18/2018) — During Marietta College's annual Juried Student Art Exhibition opening reception, the Art Department announced multiple awards including France Moise '20 (Naples, Florida) as Best in Show.
Moise, who is majoring in both Psychology and Studio Art, won for her oil on canvas, "Nueve Once."
The President's Choice Award went to Cassie Smith '19 (Marietta, Ohio) for her oil on canvas work, "Abstract #1." Sienna Stockey '21 (Waterford, Ohio) won the Provost's Choice Award for her pencil on paper of "Take me to church." The Student Choice Award was presented to Mohammad Alduwailah '19 (Alomariyah, Kuwait) for his untitled charcoal portraits.
Hailey Bennett '18 (Marietta, Ohio), who is majoring in both Graphic Design and Studio Art, was awarded Best Painting Printmaking for her "Portrait of the Artist in Tacky Dreams" (acrylic on canvas). Bennett was also the lone senior participating in the annual Senior Capstone Art Exhibition. Honorable mention in this category was Rebecca Worstell '25 (Marietta, Ohio) for "JFK Jr." (oil on canvas).
The Best in Drawing Flat Design went to Kitri Held, Costume Shop Supervisor in the Theatre Department, with "Birth of Venus" (cut paper diorama). Held also won the Joan Hilton Cates Award for the same artwork. Alexis Kaiden '20 (New Concord, Ohio) earned honorable mention in the category "Inside out self portrait" (charcoal on paper).
Angelo Leitner Wise '19 (Alexandria, Virginia) earned the Best in Graphic Design honor with his Jane Austin Books, while Willem Kern (Marietta, Ohio) was honorable mention with his Busta Rhymes (typeface).
Maxwell Mosey '20 (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) was the lone student included in the Circle of Excellence.
