Geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan to speak at Marietta College

Marietta, OH (03/01/2024) — Geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan will present Mid-Ohio Valley at the End of the World at Marietta College's Alma McDonough Auditorium on Wednesday, March 27. The lecture and Q&A will begin at 7:00 p.m. A book signing will follow at 8:15 p.m. in the Betty Cleland Room. A meet and greet reception (ticketed event) in Betty Cleland will also be at 5:00 p.m.

Students can attend a special Q&A event at 4:00 p.m. in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

Zeihan helps people understand how the world works. With a keen eye toward what will drive tomorrow's headlines, Zeihan combines an expert understanding of demography, economics, energy, politics, technology, and security to help clients best prepare for an uncertain future. His irreverent approach transforms topics normally dense and heavy into accessible, relevant takeaways for audiences of all types.

Throughout his career, Zeihan has worked for the U.S. State Department in Australia and the Washington, D.C., think tank community. He also helped develop the analytical models for Stratfor, one of the world's premier private intelligence companies. In 2012, Zeihan founded his own firm - Zeihan on Geopolitics - to provide clients with direct, custom analytical products. Today, those clients represent a vast array of sectors, including energy majors, financial institutions, business associations, agricultural interests, universities, and the US military.

Zeihan is also the critically acclaimed author of four books. His first two books - The Accidental Superpower and The Absent Superpower - have been recommended by Mitt Romney, Fareed Zakaria, and Ian Bremmer. He is also the author of Disunited Nations: The Scramble for Power in an Ungoverned World, and his most recent, The End of the World is Just the Beginning.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy, which was founded in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today, Marietta College serves a body of 1,200 full-time students. The College offers over 40 majors and is consistently ranked among the top regional comprehensive colleges by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review. Marietta was selected seventh in the nation according to the Brookings Institution's rankings of colleges by their highest value added, regardless of major.
