Marietta College to Host Visit Day for Future Education Professionals
Marietta, OH (10/17/2025) — The Office of Admission at Marietta College will welcome aspiring teachers and education professionals to campus for Education Visit Day on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event is designed to help young minds grow, offering prospective students and their families the opportunity to explore the vibrant campus and learn how Marietta's education program prepares future educators to lead with purpose, inspire confidence and make a lasting impact in the classroom.
Sessions will highlight classroom experiences, student-teaching opportunities, and the College's partnerships with regional schools. Throughout the day, attendees will have the chance to connect with current students and faculty, tour the Education Department, and sit in on a class to learn the art of teaching at Marietta College. In addition to the slate of activities, guests will also enjoy a complimentary lunch in Gilman Dining Hall and receive Marietta merchandise.
Amanda Rider, chair of Marietta College's Education Department, emphasized the importance of the event as a meaningful opportunity to connect with future educators and showcase the strength of the College's education program.
"We aim to inform students and families about why our award-winning education program stands out among other programs in Ohio, ensuring that our graduates are prepared in all state-level initiatives," Rider said.
Education Visit Day gives aspiring teachers a firsthand look at how Marietta combines academics and instruction with experiential learning opportunities to prepare students to make an impact from day one. Programs highlighted during the event will include the Mental Health First Aid Certificate, Marietta's Teacher Leadership Certificate offered in conjunction with the McDonough Leadership Program and the Science of Reading Certificate.
"Our guests will have an opportunity to attend a freshman-level course, as well as speak with a panel of current and former students and local partnership teachers," Rider said. "Prospective students will also meet all the Education Department members, who will speak directly to their specializations and areas of experience. Our goal is to pass along a passion for educating children in an ever-changing world."
Marietta College's education program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and recognized by the Ohio Board of Regents as one of the state's top teacher preparation programs. Marietta also boasts the nation's only liberal arts-based Teacher Leadership Program for undergraduates and was named one of the top four education programs in Ohio by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The program offers pathways to licensure in primary, middle childhood, secondary, wellness and special education, with opportunities for dual certification.
