Washington Monthly ranks Marietta high in Baccalaureate Colleges

College comes in at No. 13 in 2017 rankings

Marietta, Ohio (09/05/2017) — Marietta College has placed 13th in a national ranking of colleges and universities across the United States in regards to an institution's contribution to the public good - up from 26th last year.

The Washington Monthly 2017 College Guide and Rankings assesses institutions based on social mobility (graduation rate, first-generation performance, net price rank), research (expenditures and bachelor's to Ph.D.) and service (encouraging students to give back to their country).

The survey considers universities' predicted and actual graduation rates; the percentage of low-income students receiving federal aid; the percentage of all students who join the Peace Corps or ROTC, or engage in other community service; and the number of faculty receiving significant awards and elected to the national academies.

The top five in the Bachelor's category were Cooper Union (New York), Goshen College (Indiana), College of the Ozarks (Missouri), Cedar Crest College (Pennsylvania) and California Maritime Academy.

Regardless of methodology, Marietta has consistently placed among the best colleges and universities in regional and national rankings for more than 30 years.
