Three Marietta students set to compete in Peoples Bank Case Competition

Seventh annual event scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9

Marietta, Ohio (02/07/2019) — Marietta College students Ashley Klopfenstein '20 (Cicero, Indiana), Rachel George '20 (Lake Forest, Illinois) and Stephen True '19 (Sykesville, Maryland) are competing in the seventh annual Peoples Bank Undergraduate Business Case Competition on Saturday, February 9th.

A total of 15 teams from 14 colleges and universities are planning to compete during the one-day event at Marietta College. Each team consists of two to three undergraduate students and one faculty adviser. Teams have been given three months to prepare their presentations for a financial services-related topic.

The case covers a wide range of geographical regions along with multiple functional areas including human resources, finance, strategic planning and marketing.

During the first round of presentations, each team will present its case finding to a panel of Peoples Bank executives. The top four scoring teams will move on to a final round of presentations.

An awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the competition in the Alma McDonough Auditorium. The first-place team receives $1,500; the second-place team, $1,000; the third-place team, $750; and the fourth-place team, $500.

Other participating schools include Marshall University, Ohio State University, Ohio Valley University, University of Mount Union, Northern Kentucky University, Tiffin University, Oberlin College, College of Wooster, University of Akron, Ohio Northern University, West Virginia University, Cleveland State University and the University of Charleston.

Marietta's faculty adviser is Dr. John Fazio, Assistant Professor of Management.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college.
