Southeast Ohio Bootcamp offers free entrepreneurial training for aspiring business owners

by Tom Perry

Marietta, OH (06/07/2024) — This summer, aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners in Southeast Ohio have a unique opportunity to get expert training and mentorship through a free six-week boot camp.

The Southeast Ohio Community Bootcamp for Entrepreneurs is being offered through a partnership between Marietta College's Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (CECD), Ohio University's Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Appalachian Ohio Manufacturing Coalition.

Over the six Saturday sessions from June 8 through July 20, participants will learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, strategic planning, financial management, marketing, operations, and securing resources. Each four-hour session will include lectures and interactive Q&A with successful entrepreneurs and subject matter experts.

"There is so much untapped entrepreneurial potential in our region, but many people lack the know-how and resources to realize their business dreams," said Dr. Jacqueline Khorassani, Senior Director of CECD. "This boot camp aims to fill that gap by providing high-quality training from proven experts, completely free of charge."

The boot camp will take place on the campus of Marietta College, kicking off on June 8 with the session "The Entrepreneurial Dream." Subsequent sessions will cover topics like financial planning, strategic thinking, funding acquisition, marketing strategy, and operational essentials.

This innovative partnership combines the entrepreneurial resources of Marietta College, Ohio University, and regional manufacturing groups to empower a new generation of business leaders and startups in Appalachian Ohio.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy, founded in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today, Marietta College serves a body of 1,200 full-time students.
