MC students select SGA leadership team for 2021-22

New Concord's Taiylor Williamson '22 selected as Student Body President

by Tom Perry

Marietta, Ohio (04/30/2021) — Marietta College's 2021-22 Student Government Association leadership team all hails from Ohio, including Taiylor Williamson (New Concord, Ohio) who was elected Student Body President.

Williamson replaces Katie Kitchen '21 (Marietta, Ohio). Williamson, who is majoring in both English and Political Science, has been on SGA since the spring semester of her freshman year. She is also an EXCEL coordinator and President of Sigma Kappa sorority.

"I am excited to serve as Student Government Association President. I can't wait to continue to make changes through my senior year," Williamson said. "Next year, I am hoping to increase SGA's visibility by ensuring students know who their representatives are, what SGA does, and how to express student concerns. Coming from a more virtual year than anyone was used to, focusing on increasing visibility both in person and virtually is a big goal!"

Joining Williamson on the executive team are Vice President Alexander Lersch '23 (Tiffin, Ohio), Treasurer Natalie Johnson '23 (Uniontown, Ohio), Secretary Elizabeth Vigue '23 (Lancaster, Ohio) and Parliamentarian Kennedy Couch (Lancaster, Ohio).

The SGA Class Representatives for 2021-22 are:

  • Seniors: Alexander Blackston '22 (Lancaster, Ohio), Felipe Cruz '22 (Marietta, Ohio), Claire Davis '22 (Fishers, Indiana) and Andrew Novak '22 (Sewickley, Pennsylvania).
  • Juniors: Benjamin Hrovat '23 (Palm Bay, Florida), Andrew Konjevich '23 (Dublin, Ohio), Vinny Tassari '23 (Verona, Pennsylvania) and Lauryn Ward '23 (Mineral Wells, West Virginia).
  • Sophomores: Piper Lane '24 (Columbus, Ohio), Kelly Levering '24 (Powell, Ohio), Gabby Turner '24 (Beavercreek Township, Ohio) and Auva Zandi '24 (Dublin, Ohio).

SGA's mission is to advocate for students and foster positive change on campus and be a liaison between students, faculty and the administration.
