MC students hone skills in Mock Speed Interview event

Marietta, OH (02/19/2024) — Eleven Marietta College students recently participated in the inaugural Mock Speed Interview event on Thursday, February 15, looking to improve their interview skills before entering the job market.

The event, held in The Gathering Place, gave each student five minutes to engage with 10 different interviewers who provided real-time feedback.

"The primary aim was to provide students the opportunity to refine their interviewing skills," said Dr. Jacqueline Khorassani, Senior Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (CECD). "Once the students completed their responses, the interviewers provided real-time feedback to help prepare them for future job interviews."

The participating students included four seniors and seven juniors: Ryan Boggs '25 (Chillicothe, Ohio), NataliaFacchinato-Sitja '24 (Washington, D.C.), Terry Gasper '24 (Woodbridge, Virginia), Kaitlyn Gough '25 (Canal Winchester, Ohio), Rachel Guilliams '24, MAP'25 (Newark, Ohio), Mackenzie Harshbarger '25 (Pullman, West Virginia), Keshaun Madlock '25 (Cleveland, Ohio), Liz Roderick '25 (New Matamoras, Ohio), Anthony Sabatino '24 (Alliance, Ohio), Emory Spitler '25 (Lebanon, Ohio), and Claire Strickland '25 (Bellaire, Ohio).

The interviewers were comprised of faculty and staff from Marietta College as well as board members and mentors from the CECD, providing the students with a diverse panel of professionals to practice their interview skills.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy, which was founded in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today, Marietta College serves a body of 1,200 full-time students. The College offers over 40 majors and is consistently ranked among the top regional comprehensive colleges by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review. Marietta was selected seventh in the nation according to the Brookings Institution's rankings of colleges by their highest value added, regardless of major.
