Marietta College updates focus, renames annual entrepreneurship event
Marietta, Ohio (06/16/2022) — Beginning July 1, 2022, Marietta College's annual entrepreneurship event will officially change its name to the BIG (Build, Innovate and Grow) Workshop.
Dr. Jacqueline Khorassani, Director of the Entrepreneurship Program at Marietta College, started the Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneurship Expo (MOVEE) in 2016. However, she said the time was right to update the name as the workshop has a new focus.
"The BIG Workshop's mission is to connect aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners with each other and with resource providers and experts to create a network that solves business problems, identifies viable entrepreneurial ideas, and puts them into action," she said. "Ultimately, we aspire to build a network of entrepreneurs who generate economic, social, and environmental values in their communities and around the globe."
This year's BIG Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2nd.
"If you want to BUILD a business, find INNOVATIVE solutions for your business-related problems, or GROW your business, this workshop is for you," Khorassani said.
The Entrepreneurship Program at Marietta College consists of an academic major, minor, and certificate and several co-curricular activities that are designed to enhance students' ability to think and act entrepreneurially. Besides the BIG Workshop, the list of the Program's co-curricular activities includes the PioBiz Competition and the PioPitch in-person sessions and video podcasts. All of the program's co-curricular activities are open to the public.
