Marietta College successfully completes HLC's Year 4 Assurance Review

Marietta, Ohio (08/06/2020) — President Bill Ruud is pleased to announce that Marietta College has successfully completed its Year 4 Assurance Review with no recommended monitoring from the Higher Learning Commission - one of the nation's six regional accreditors for institutions of higher education.

"Marietta College appreciates the opportunities for review, reflection, and the advent of new and fresh ideas that the accreditation process provides," Ruud said. "This announcement affirms that we are committed to our mission and our high academic standards. I am grateful for the efforts by our accreditation team and all of the dedicated Marietta College community members who worked to make this happen."

The next step in the institution's ongoing accreditation relationship is to begin work on a Quality Initiative project and to prepare for the institution's comprehensive evaluation in Year 10, which will include an action regarding the institution's Reaffirmation of Accreditation.

Faculty, staff, and administrators who worked on the HLC review were: Janet Bland (Provost and Dean of the Faculty), Suzanne Walker (Associate Provost), Joe Sullivan (Associate Professor of English), Richard Danford (Vice President for Student Life & Diversity), Ben Ebenhack (Chair of Petroleum Engineering & Geology), Duong Le (Associate Professor of Finance), Nicole Livengood (McCoy Associate Professor of English), Matt Menzel (Professor of Mathematics), Lori Smith (Assistant Professor of Communication), Debbie Wayland (Assistant Vice President for Administrative Services), Kayleigh Williams (Controller) and Jenni Zhang (Assistant Professor of Asian Studies).

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy back in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today Marietta College serves a body of 1,200 full-time students.
