Marietta College's Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development offers full slate of professional development events in September
Marietta, OH (09/10/2025) — This fall, Marietta College is expanding opportunities for students to build professional skills and prepare to take charge of their futures. Throughout September, the College's Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (CECD) is offering a slate of events designed to equip Pioneers with the resources, skills, and confidence to thrive after graduation.
Led by Senior Director of Entrepreneurship & Career Development and Professor of Economics and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Jaqueline Khorassani, the CECD provides students with resources from skill-building opportunities, problem-solving competitions, and networking to mentorship, personalized career coaching, and experiential education. The September programs are part of the College's ongoing commitment to preparing students for meaningful careers and lives of purpose.
"At Marietta, we don't wait for opportunities to magically fall on our laps. We inspire students to create opportunities," Dr. Khorassani said. "This September's programs are about building the skills, mindset, and network that help Pioneers own their path from classroom to career."
The series began on Thursday, Sept. 4, with "Kickstart Connections with CECD", a networking event designed to connect Pioneers with peers and professionals. The remainder of the month includes workshops and labs that cover everything from resume and cover letter development to interview preparation and entrepreneurial problem-solving.
"Unlock CECD" will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 12:10-1:50 p.m. in Thomas Hall 327. This session will introduce students to the wide range of resources and opportunities available through the Center.
"Resume Revamp with CECD" will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 12:20-12:50 p.m. in Thomas Hall 327. The workshop will provide strategies for turning experience into an impactful resume that captures employers' attention.
"PioBiz Workshop: From Problem to Solution" will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Thomas Hall 327. Participants will practice identifying challenges and developing innovative solutions as they prepare for this year's PioBiz competition.
"Cover Letter Clinic with CECD" will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 12:20-12:50 p.m. in Thomas Hall 327. This clinic will focus on supporting students as they develop compelling cover letters that highlight their strengths and goals.
"Job Search and Interview Prep Lab with CECD" will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 12:20-12:50 p.m. in Thomas Hall 327. The lab will offer practical advice for navigating the job search process and developing essential interview skills.
"Every session is intentionally practical and action-oriented: students are encouraged to bring a draft resume, a problem they care about, or a question about internships, and they will leave with clear next steps," Khorassani said.
Located on the second floor of the Gilman Student Center, the CECD helps students transform their education and experience into real-world success. To learn more, visit marietta.edu/center-entrepreneurship-career-development.
