Marietta College ranks nationally in 2024 Washington Monthly review
Research, service and social mobility key indicators for recognition
Marietta, OH (08/29/2024) — The transformational education that Marietta College offers to its students has once again been recognized nationally in Washington Monthly's 2024 Bachelor's College Rankings.
Across 1,565 institutions across the U.S., Marietta reached the 32nd spot regarding an institution's contribution to the public good in categories of social mobility, research and promoting public service. Within those categories, Marietta was ranked 6th in service, 19th in research, and 127th in social mobility.
The survey measured data averaged over the past three years to gauge the performance of each institution. It looked at each institution's graduation rates - predicted and actual figures - the share of low-income students getting federal aid, the percentage of students involved in the Peace Corps or ROTC, and the number of faculty who earn major awards or are elected to national academies.
Additionally, in the regional rankings, Marietta College was placed 191st out of 372 colleges and universities for Best Bang for the Buck: Midwest. This ranking specifically assesses "how well institutions help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices." The Best Bang for the Buck list is derived from social mobility metrics isolated from the main rankings, highlighting affordability and value.
