Marietta College professor presents on business ethics

by Tom Perry

Marietta, OH (06/21/2024) — The Parkersburg Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) invited Marietta College Professor Grace Johnson to deliver an interactive session at the Association's 2024 Spring Forum conducted in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on May 21.

Johnson facilitated an interactive seminar for participants called "Ethical Decision Making: Individual and Organizational Factors."

Using the illustration of proposed changes in return-to-office work policies, participants learned about and discussed how differences in personal values and corporate culture can lead to ethical dilemmas in organizational decision-making. Participants were instructed to view proposed policy changes from both management and non-management employee perspectives, and reflect on the way individual and corporate ethical values influence each group's attitude about return-to-office policies.

"It was an honor to serve as an invited presenter for this important regional AGA conference," Johnson said. "Working with so many talented state and federal accounting and finance professionals in this seminar made it quite enjoyable. Their contributions to the conversation were meaningful and sincere, and I learned a lot from them as well."

The AGA is a voluntary membership organization dedicated to providing government accountants throughout the United States with continuing education and professional networking opportunities.
