by Tom Perry

Marietta, Ohio (04/30/2018) — Marietta College's Education Department recently inducted nine students into Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education, during a special ceremony earlier in April.

The students inducted into Kappa Delta Pi were Amanda Augustyniak '20 (Pickerington, Ohio), Corrie Burkhardt '19 (Zanesville, Ohio), Amanda Carpenter '19 (Zanesville, Ohio), Monica Curtis '19 (New Matamoras, Ohio), Elizabeth Dingey '19 (Blue Rock, Ohio), Megan Hesson '20 (Lowell, Ohio), Quinci Jones '20 (New Concord, Ohio), Alexis Swisher '20 (Marietta, Ohio) and Kelsey Wilmink '21 (Dunbar, West Virginia).

Kappa Delta Pi was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. For more than a century, the Society has consistently grown, starting with a local chapter to become the international organization it is today, with an initiated membership that exceeds 1.2 million.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy back in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today Marietta College serves a body of 1,200 full-time students. The College offers 45 majors and is consistently ranked as one of the top regional comprehensive colleges by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review, as well as one of the nation's best by Forbes.com. Marietta was selected seventh in the nation according to the Brookings Institution's rankings of colleges by their highest value added, regardless of major.
