Employees to be honored during service award ceremony on May 10

Those being recognized have combined for 894 years at Marietta College

Marietta, Ohio (05/05/2022) — Less than 72 hours after honoring the Class of 2022 at Commencement, Marietta College will turn its attention to recognizing employees who have reached a milestone in service, as well as 11 individuals who are retiring.

President Bill Ruud is pleased to honor each employee who is being recognized for milestone years of service - starting at five years and continuing in five-year increments during the annual Employee Service Award and Retirement Recognition Ceremony at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10th, in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

Those being recognized for their service to the College have combined for 894 years. One employee, Dr. Dave Freeman (Petroleum Engineering), is celebrating 30 years of employment at Marietta, while three - Eric Fitch (Environmental Science), Tanya Jarrell (Biology) and Peter Thayer (Library) are celebrating 25 years.

Also being honored on May 10th are:

20-year awards: Dave Brown (Biology), Dennis Kuhl (Physics), Ryan May (Psychology), Marilee Morrow (Communication), Jolene Powell (Art), and Wendy Thieman (Athletics).

15-year awards: Nathan Anderson (English), Christy Burke (Education Abroad), Timothy Cokeley (Physical Plant), Aaron Cowdery (Information Technology), Ali Doerflinger (Psychology), Jim Jeitler (Chemistry), Jonna Munfield (Advancement), Linda Showalter (Library), Gi Smith (Communication and Brand Management), Joseph Straw (Library), David Torbett (Religion), and Jon VanderWal (Athletics).

10-year awards: Jordan Becker (Physical Plant), Rhonda Bumgarner (Administration & Finance), Tej Gautam (Geology), Gillian Keeley (Physical Plant), Cora Pottmeyer (Physical Plant), Rakib Sarker (Petroleum Engineering), Kole Vivian (Athletics), and Kurt Wile (Athletic Training).

5-year awards: Linda Adelson (Mailroom), Layne Archer (Admission), Thomas Arison (Athletics), Jena Blair (Athletic Training), Joan Borman (Administration & Finance), William Clark (Academic Affairs), Samantha Delbaugh (Student Financial Aid), Brandon Downing (History), Andrew Francis (Music), Melissa Gandor (Academic Affairs), Allen Gattis (Information Technology), Christopher Hall (College Police), Mary Herb (Communications and Brand Management), Nicole Hill (Admission), Thomas Hinkle Jr. (Athletics); James Karan (Business & Economics), Ann Kaufman (Education), Philip Mason (Communication and Brand Management), Malory Nadrah (Athletics), Jacob Ridgway (Physical Plant), Jennifer Rose (Copy Center), Shawn Runyon (Athletics), Caitlin Thomas (Athletics), Kayleigh Williams (Administration & Finance), Matthew Williamson (Computer Science), and Jenni Zhang (Asian Studies).

Also, being recognized are 11 retirees - Dr. Doug Anderson, Director of Legacy Library (2005-22), Bob Billingsley, HVAC Engineer (1995-2022), Wendy Bartlett, Instructor of Geology (2007-22), Dr. Dottie Erb, Professor of Education (1991-2022), Robin Eschbaugh, Payroll Manager (2004-22), Victoria Ford, Senior HR Administrator (1991-2022), Roy Johnson, Systems and Services Manager (1979-2022), Dr. Cathy Mowrer, McCoy Professor of Education (2003-2022), Joyce Pennington, Administrative Coordinator (1989-2022), Nancy Schwendeman, Executive Coordinator (2005-22), and Dr. Xiaoxiong Yi, Associate Professor of Political Science (1989-2021).

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy back in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today Marietta College serves a body of 1,200 full-time students.
