College's Jazz Combo conducting annual Fall Concert on Nov. 7

by Tom Perry

Marietta, Ohio (10/31/2019) — Marietta College's Jazz Combo is having its annual Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 7th, in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

Sharing the stage with the Jazz Combo will be the newly-formed Marietta Faculty Jazz Trio, which includes Dr. Andy Francis, Scott Kitchen, and Combo Director Jordan Reed. The Jazz Combo will be playing four tunes by two of the most popular new-jazz groups, Snarky Puppy and Louis Cole.

"I wanted to focus on playing new music with the students this year," Reed said. "I usually like to program an older standard, or two, on each concert, but I thought it would be fun to let our audience hear exactly what's going on with new jazz that's being written by some of the most prolific young musicians in the scene."

The concert is free and open to the public.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college.
