Marietta College Alumni Association Board directors pass the torch to new members and leaders

Marietta, Ohio (06/30/2021) — As the 2020-21 fiscal year drew to a close for Marietta College on June 30, eight members of the Marietta College Alumni Association (MCAA) Board of Directors completed their terms and transitioned to the College's Adkins Society - an honorary society that recognizes the contributions of former board members and keeps them informed of current board activity.

The newest members of the Adkins Society include Jack Hopkins'65, Patty Bain Bachner '77, Marianne Candido '85, Keith Coleman '77, Kathy Wilcox Lentner '97, Rocky Peck '88, Ariel Ross '13 and Jim Wilson '69. These new members will be honored alongside current members at a special reception during the College's Homecoming celebration on Thursday, October 20.

Outgoing MCAA Board Chair Jack Hopkins '65 served the Board for seven years, completing two three-year terms and serving an extra year to complete his tenure as Chair. He formerly served as Vice Chair. He passed the torch to former Vice Chair Susan "Jay" Hauck-Bell '85, who assumes the Chair position. Michael Joliat '06 was elected as Vice Chair and Melissa Clawson '05 will be completing the second year of her two-year term as Secretary.

In addition to joining the Adkins Society, Hopkins '65 has transitioned from being the ex-officio member of the College's Board of Trustees to being elected to full Board membership. Wilson '69 was also elected to the Board of Trustees, and as the new Chair of the MCAA, Hauck-Bell '85 assumes the role of ex-officio member of the Board.

The MCAA Board committees also underwent leadership changes. Outgoing committee chairs include Patty Bain Bachner '77 (Development Committee), Michael Joliat '06 (Communications and Marketing Committee), Adam Kopp '88 (Alumni Engagement Committee) and Jim Wilson '69 (Nominations Committee).

The new committee chairs include Nancey Kaplan McCann '76 (Development), Anna Bock Mullins '04 (Communications and Marketing), Tim Byers '06 (Alumni Engagement) and Brittany Metcalf '13 (Nominations).

In addition to these leadership changes, the MCAA Board welcomes eight new members, including Barry Brownstein PA'06, Chanel Cornett '16, Renee Bailey Gallagher '84, Brent Haney '76, Lori O'Connell '85, Laura Stange Regan '94, Douglas Spencer '87 and Metcalf.
