Free live stream of 'The Laramie Project' made possible by Parkersburg PRIDE sponsorship

Marietta, Ohio (02/16/2021) — The Theatre at Marietta College's deeply moving live stream production of The Laramie Project opened to audiences last Friday. Through a generous sponsorship by Parkersburg Pride, the final performance at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, will be free to the next 500 people who reserve access.

The Laramie Project tells the true story of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man severely beaten outside Laramie, Wyoming. In the aftermath, Moisés Kaufman and Tectonic Theater Project members conducted over 200 interviews with people of Laramie, some directly connected to the case and others citizens of the town. From these interviews and their own experiences in Laramie, Kaufman and Tectonic Theatre members created The Laramie Project, a theatrical experience exploring the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.

The Laramie Project contains adult language, homophobia, and graphic descriptions of violence.

Parkersburg Pride is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that sponsors events and programs to provide social and educational resources to members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies, friends, and family members.

The Theatre at Marietta College will perform The Laramie Project on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20 - both starting at 8:00 p.m. Access to either live stream is available through www.showtix4u.com/events/MCTheatre.
