Cincinnati, Ohio resident honored during Marietta College's Homecoming

Marietta, Ohio (12/16/2017) — Lindsey Romick-Rosendale '07 of Cincinnati, Ohio, was named the 2017 Outstanding Young Alumna during Marietta College's homecoming festivities from Oct. 19-22.

Romick-Rosendale, who received her Ph.D. from Miami University in 2011, received the honor on Saturday, Oct. 21, during the MCAA Awards Ceremony. She is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at both Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She is also the Director of NMR-based Metabolomics Core at CCHMC.

She works with scientists and physicians from hospitals all over the world to help in better understanding what role a person's metabolism plays in onset, progression and treatment of hundreds of rare and common diseases, including cancers.

Her own research interests include the study of children and adults with a rare genetic disorder called Fanconi anemia. These children have a shortened life expectancy and are known to develop cancers at a young age, but cannot be given chemotherapy like the general population because their bodies are too fragile. Romick-Rosendale has a patent pending for the development of a biomarker for this rare genetic disorder.

Her husband, Andrew is a 2007 graduate of Marietta. Romick-Rosendale is also a 2003 graduate of River High School in Hannibal, Ohio.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy begun in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today Marietta College serves a body of 1,200 full-time students.
