College's Floodstage performs 'Titanium' in video release

Marietta, Ohio (06/11/2018) — Floodstage, Marietta College's contemporary a cappella ensemble, recently released its video performance of Sia's "Titanium."

"It's a powerful text that sends the message that no matter what comes our way, we'll remain strong," said Dr. Jay Dougherty, Director of Choral Activities. "In a world as tumultuous as ours, this is a message we can all relate to."

Many a cappella fans were introduced to "Titanium" when it was featured in the 2012 movie Pitch Perfect.

Marietta College students involved in Floodstage during the 2017-18 academic year were Aran Barney '19 (Walker, West Virginia), Sarah Bishop '18 (Salesville, Ohio), Steven Chambers '19 (Blue Rock, Ohio), David Erzen '19 (Bethel Park, Pennsylvania), Sadie Johnson '19 (Bloomington, Indiana), Calaya Rake '20 (Marietta, Ohio), Scotty Rockhold '21 (Marietta, Ohio), Coco Shao '18 (Beijing, China) and Morgan Thompson '18 (Woodsfield, Ohio).

This is the group's second video release. In the spring of 2017, Floodstage released a video of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun."

"Floodstage is very lucky to have such talented singers," Dougherty said. "We have a few that graduated this year so we'll have some spots open for next year's ensemble. Auditions are the first two days of school, Aug. 27 and 28. Anyone wanting information on how to become a part of this ensemble should contact me at jay.dougherty@marietta.edu."
