Nicole Holstein '12 participating in Alternative Spring Break in Pine Ridge Native American Reservation in South Dakota

Nicole Holstein '12, of Dunbar, W.Va., is not partaking in the typical spring break.

Instead, Holstein has joined approximately a dozen Marietta College classmates on an Alternative Spring Break trip to Pine Ridge Native American Reservation in South Dakota. Marietta College's spring break is March 10-18.

Holstein is majoring in Environmental Science and Political Science.

Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy begun in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today Marietta College serves a body of 1,400 full-time students.
