Morgan Rich earns scholarship award from Michael Late Benedum Chapter

2016 Jun 22

Marietta College's Morgan Rich of Sarahsville, OH, earned one of three scholarships recently announced by the Michael Late Benedum Chapter during a special ceremony in Morgantown, W.Va.

Rich, who is majoring in Land & Energy Management, received a $5000 scholarship. Rich is a graduate of Shenandoah High School.

The scholarships are highly competitive as students from West Virginia University, Penn State University and Marietta College are eligible. The award criteria are based on academic achievement, involvement in the College's student landman association, and an essay expressing the student's interest in pursuing a career as a landman.

"Marietta College's Land & Energy Management program is extremely honored to have Morgan Rich and Ryan Ulam selected as recipients of the 2016 Michael Late Benedum Chapter Student Scholarship Awards," said Dr. Greg Delemeester, coordinator for the major. "The awards were open to students from the region's other AAPL-accredited programs at Penn State and West Virginia University as well. The selection of two of our students as award recipients is recognition of the overall strength of our LEMG program and its commitment to developing young land professionals."

Created in 2014, the Land & Energy Management major's curriculum builds on the strength of a rigorous business core, then includes disciplines such as petroleum engineering and geology, environmental science, communications and writing, and mathematics and computing to create a balanced program designed to meet the field's diverse needs.
