2017 Mar 2

Marietta College's Michael Reese of Marietta, OH, was recently awarded one of five Ohio Foundation for Music Education student teaching scholarships.

Reese, who is majoring in Music Education, is a graduate of Marietta High School.

The $750 scholarship is based upon an application certifying completion of all necessary course work for student teaching in music education.

"Michael's recognition awards his drive in the music education field. During his studies at Marietta College this young music educator has taken advantage of every opportunity to build and develop his skills," said Marshall C. Kimball, Director of Bands and Music Department Chair. "While carrying a very heavy course load each semester, Michael has also completed a minor in Political Science and a Teacher Leadership Certificate."

In addition to being involved in all the various music ensembles on campus, Reese has taken on the extra opportunities of performing in the Legends Drum and Bugle Corps, the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, Matrix Indoor Drum Line and Rhythm X Indoor Drum Line.

"He is a driven individual with fantastic musical skills," Kimball said. "He's going to make an incredible music teacher. I am very pleased that Michael received the OFME student teaching scholarship in honor of all his achievements and hard work."

At Marietta College, Reese has performed in the Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concert Choir.
