Emily Tornes makes presentation at Ohio Space Grant Consortium Student Research Symposium

2017 Apr 13

Emily Tornes of Lowell, OH, was one of four Marietta College students to make a presentation at the Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) Student Research Symposium on March 31st.

Tornes, who is majoring in Early Childhood Education and Intervention Specialist, also received a scholarship to conduct the research from OSGC. Tornes is a graduate of Fort Frye High School.

In an effort to encourage advanced education in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), the scholarships are funded through the Congressionally supported National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program administered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Member universities, the Ohio Aerospace Institute, foundations, and private industry provide matching funds.

Attending the symposium and presenting the findings of their research or educational activity was another requirement of receiving the scholarships for the Marietta students.
