Daniel Carlsen completes Investigative Studies Fellowship at Marietta College

2016 Sep 21

Marietta College's Daniel Carlsen of Vincent, OH, recently completed an Investigative Studies Fellowship during the 2016 summer.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, Carlsen and three other Investigative Studies Fellows will present their research during a special seminar. Carlsen is presenting on "Differences in the Effects of Ultraviolet B Light on Human Skin Cells."

The Investigative Studies Summer Fellowship Program provides opportunities for undergraduate students at Marietta College to work one-on-one with a faculty mentor in order to pursue research or creative activity of interest beyond that explored in a classroom setting.

Students prepare a proposal for a competitive application process during the Spring semester and pursue research activity during a six-week period of the summer semester. Fellows receive six weeks of campus housing and a stipend of $2,250.

Carlsen, who is majoring in Biochemistry and Psychology, is scheduled to graduate in May of 2018. Carlsen is also a graduate of Warren High School.
