Allison Sells one of 13 Marietta College students who traveled to South Dakota for Alternative Spring Break

Marietta College's Allison Sells of Fleming, OH, recently traveled to Pine Ridge, S.D., as part of an Alternative Spring Break program.

Sells, who is majoring in Middle Childhood Education, Intervention Specialist and EDCO, was one of 13 students who made the 20-hour drive from Marietta to help the Native American people of the Oglala Lakota community. The students were in South Dakota from March 8-15.

Marietta College partners with RE-MEMBER, an organization that seeks to improve the quality of reservation life through relationships, shared resources and volunteer services. RE-MEMBER's four volunteer projects are bunk beds for children, trailer skirting, outhouse construction and making homes livable.
