About Marietta College

The roots of Marietta College reach back to 1797, when it was known as the Muskingum Academy. Since receiving its charter from the state of Ohio in 1835, Marietta has continued to mature into one of the finest small, contemporary liberal arts colleges in the Midwest. U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review and Forbes.com consistently rank Marietta among the best small, liberal arts colleges in the nation. The College offers its more than 1,200 undergraduate students the opportunity to pursue 44 majors, 52 minors and five pre-professional programs, which prepare students for careers in dentistry, law, medicine and veterinary medicine.
