Milton Friedman Lecture to feature economic policy analyst
Marietta, OH (02/18/2025) — The Milton Friedman Lecture is a long-standing tradition at Marietta College, celebrating the contributions of Nobel Laureate Milton Friedman to the field of economics. This year's lecture promises to engage the Marietta community in a thought-provoking discussion on the future of economics in the age of rapidly advancing technology.
"At a time of rapid technological transformation, Marietta College's 41st Annual Milton Friedman Lecture will present James Pethokoukis, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, who offers a compelling perspective on AI's role in shaping the economy of tomorrow," said Dr. Greg Delemeester, Marietta's Milton Friedman Professor of Economics.
Pethokoukis, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), will deliver the 41st annual Milton Friedman Lecture on February 24, 2025, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in Thomas Hall's Cooper Auditorium. The lecture, titled "Uncle Miltie and the Age of AI," is free and open to the public.
Known for his expertise in U.S. economic policy and is a prominent commentator on political economy, Pethokoukis is also the author of The Conservative Futurist: How to Create the Sci-Fi World We Were Promised (2023) and has written for various renowned publications including The Atlantic, Financial Times, and National Review. He regularly contributes to CNBC and hosts AEI's Political Economy podcast. He will share insights on the intersection of Milton Friedman's economic principles and the evolving impact of artificial intelligence on society.
Additionally, Pethokoukis will speak at the Economic Roundtable (ERT) Luncheon on February 25, 2025, from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Parkersburg Country Club in Vienna, WV. His luncheon topic will be "US Economic Outlook: Is there Still Time for a New Roaring Twenties?"
