Marietta College unveils Marietta Forward strategic plan

Marietta, OH (01/30/2024) — Marietta College has announced a new strategic plan, called Marietta Forward, that will guide the College into the future, according to President Dr. Margaret L. Drugovich. The plan was approved by the Board of Trustees after an extensive strategic planning process.

Marietta Forward focuses on supporting Marietta students, strengthening current academic programs, developing new programs for graduate and non-traditional students, including programs that address workforce development needs, and creating an inclusive campus culture.

"Marietta Forward responds to the changing environment within higher education," Drugovich said. "The plan includes a significant expansion of critical support services that will help to ensure the success of every Marietta College student. Our new and enhanced program offerings will better serve the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students. This is a practical, actionable, strategic plan, focused on results, that will continue our tradition of high-quality, relevant education that prepares students for success after graduation."

A new division, the Marietta College Division of Executive Education and Workforce Development, will offer continuing education and workforce training programs. This initiative is designed to leverage the College's resources to spur economic growth in the region.

The Board of Trustees has committed to raising the necessary funds to launch Marietta Forward, which will officially launch in July of 2024. The plan is designed to build on the College's 189 years of success while assuring responsiveness to evolving student needs.

"Marietta Forward will ensure Marietta College continues to adapt and thrive for generations to come while also maintaining our liberal arts core," said Provost Dr. Kathleen Poorman Dougherty. "The main guiding principle of Marietta Forward is our unyielding commitment to the success of every student who enrolls at Marietta College. We are excited to implement this ambitious strategic plan to benefit our students, community, and region."
