Marietta College's Amanda Davis '18 earns annual Evans Internship Endowment award

Rising senior to intern with Insight2profit in Pennsylvania this summer

Marietta, Ohio (04/28/2017) — Amanda Davis '18 (Cutler, Ohio) had heard about the power of Marietta College's Long Blue Line, but this year she was the beneficiary of its wide-reaching impact.

For starters, she is the 2017 recipient of the Robert Evans Internship Endowment Award, which was established by a member of The Long Blue Line and his spouse. She will intern this summer at a business analyst with Insight2profit in Cleveland.

Denise and Mike Salvino '87 established the Evans Internship in the spring of 2010 through a gift to honor Evans and recognize his substantial contributions to Marietta College and the McDonough Leadership Program. The program awards $5,000 to one qualified rising junior or senior who participates in an approved internship in a for-profit organization, specifically a major national or global organization.

The $5,000 can be used for relocation, travel, housing, meals, related equipment purchases and other living expenses. Eligible applicants can be in any undergraduate major with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

"I'm grateful and honored to have been selected as this year's recipient of the Robert Evans Internship Endowment," said Davis, who is double majoring in Economics and International Business. "As I plan for my internship with Insight2profit, I know that I'll be able to fully immerse myself in this opportunity. I'm confident that I will share experiences with my colleagues and have adventures all my own that will build upon the foundation of leadership that Marietta College has provided me."

Davis also saw first hand how Marietta College alumni watch out for each other as she was looking for an internship.

"I heard of my internship through alumna Danielle Cisler '05, who is currently a manager at Insight," Davis said.

Cisler was a guest speaker during the fall semester in one of Professor Julie Harding's marketing classes.

"Danielle explained how pricing has a dynamic role in marketing, while elaborating on the consulting role her firm takes in this process," Davis said. "After the class session, I thanked Danielle for her presentation and she handed me a business card, recommending that I apply for a summer internship with Insight. I received an offer in early January."

Insight2profit is a Cleveland-based price consulting and technology firm serving business-to-business manufacturers, distributors, and service providers. Davis will complete a 10-week internship where she "will have access to real client work, have an opportunity to experience a career in consulting, and work with a team to support clients."
