Entrepreneur, 1974 graduate named Marietta College's 2019-20 Fitzgerald Executive-in-Residence

Marietta, Ohio (10/14/2019) — Doug Griebel '74, a highly accomplished entrepreneur and senior executive, has been named Marietta College's 2019-20 Fitzgerald Executive-in-Residence.

Griebel is chairman and co-founder of RM Hospitality Group Inc. in New York City.

"We're very fortunate to have a business leader with this much senior executive experience as our EIR this year," said Dr. Gama Perruci, Dean of the McDonough Center for Leadership and Business. "Doug brings a wealth of leadership insights into the EIR program. The students will greatly benefit from his campus visits. While on campus, he will visit classes, have meals with the students, and will hold one-on-one meetings with students."

This EIR program's purpose is to foster meaningful relationships between a senior executive for a major enterprise and students and faculty of the College.

Griebel, an Emeritus Trustee, has more than 40 years of success within the restaurants, education, athletics, investments, and real estate industries. His areas of expertise include fundraising, negotiations, sales team development, performance management, executive coaching and mentoring.

Griebel's RM Hospitality Group manages the award-winning Rosa Mexicano restaurant chain. In this role, he oversees the company's long-term goals and manages a broad range of top-level responsibilities. Leveraging his considerable expertise, Griebel actively mentors and guides the company's C-suite executives and actively holds board seats. Additionally, he manages investment relations with the company's 25 equity partners.

Earlier in his career, Griebel completed the P&G Management Executive Training Program before moving to New York to start his own restaurant business, Shelter Rupert's Group, with two partners. He grew the business to 10 locations with four concepts, including fast food, catering and neighborhood restaurants, before focusing all efforts into Rosa Mexicano.

As a proven thought leader, Griebel is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events and restaurant board panels, where he speaks on a range of topics within the restaurant industry, including real estate and employment laws, as they relate to the industry. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Marietta College.
