College's Jazz Combo, Floodstage performing in Jazz Concert Nov. 7

Free performance starts at 7:30 p.m. in Alma McDonough Auditorium

Marietta, Ohio (10/27/2017) — Marietta College's Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music is conducting a Fall Jazz Concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

"The Jazz Concert is one of our lightest concerts on our concert schedule," said Marshall C. Kimball, Music Department Chairman. "It's one where people can truly relax and tap their foot. The variety of styles on the concert will suit all musical tastes and will allow for an enjoyable night of music for all in attendance.

Two of the music ensembles from the department will be performing. The Jazz Combo, under the direction of Jordan Reed, will be presenting some original works for jazz that have been written by the members of the ensemble. Featuring different genres of the jazz idiom, the combo will showcase both the talents of the individual members, as well as meet the musical tastes for all in attendance.

Floodstage, a contemporary a cappella vocal ensemble, will also be performing. Under the direction of Dr. Jay Dougherty, Director of Choral Activities at Marietta College, this vocal ensemble performs a mixture of styles including pop and barbershop. Music performed by this ensemble resembles the work of the popular a cappella vocal ensemble, Pentatonix.

"The larger the audience, the better and more vibrant the performance will be, so bring your family and friends and enjoy a great night of music," Kimball said.

Admission is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
